Full Balcony Repair on Two Neighbouring Residential Complexes, Kingston, ON

In the winter of 2020/ 2021, Canvas Engineering was retained to provide engineering condition assessments, along with structural rehab design and inspection services as part of a concrete balcony rehabilitation project on 2 ten-storey residential apartment complexes in Kingston, Ontario. Following the initial condition assessment phase, which revealed that extensive concrete repair work was required, Canvas worked closely with the restoration contractor throughout the construction phase to ensure that the balconies were properly restored to their original working condition. Following completion of all structural repair work, the balcony guardrails were upgraded throughout, from a dated steel railing, to a sleek glass guardrail which helped modernize the building.
